History and F-1. The Republic of San Marino - Central Italy

The Republic of San Marino is a unique territory, separated from Italy but where the official language is Italian, independent but surrounded on all sides by Italy and where the Italian "Lira" was, before the Euro, the official currency.
Considered the most ancient Republic in Europe, established in the fourth century A.D., this beautiful walled town dominates the area from the mighty Titan mountain, with medieval fortresses and fortifications that gave it its present-day aspect.
The people of San Marino have always been very jealous of their independence and have carefully preserved their land, making it become a prestigious place for holidays, mixing together history and modernity. Not only the Formula One Grand Prix and other sport events (which have given it world-wide visibility) but above all the love for tradition and a clever understanding of the changing eras are the keys of its success.

The beauty and wilderness of the surrounding area can satisfy all the exigencies of relax and fun; choose among horse promenades and foot trekking or simply enjoy the calm of the countryside with outdoor picnic. If you like history, then, you can't miss its medieval re-enactments, with huge choreographic reconstructions that really transport you back to the Middle Ages. We can organise for you to take part to some of its events, wearing a costume and becoming "part of history".
At Christmas the whole city puts on a thousand-lights dress and fills itself with stalls that sell precious gifts hand-crafted by local artisans.
Maranello, the Ferrari home town, is just some kilometres away and something that lovers of Formula One can't miss.

Italy,San,Marino

"Taste" the beauty of the landscape from the cableway that brings you to the very heart of the city and to enjoy the pleasure of a romantic moonlight stroll through its narrow alleys or the "scaring" witches' path.

Fully immersed in the region of Romagna, this land is world-wide famous for its food, recipes and good wine (Spaghetti Bolognese, piadina romagnola...), not to mention the richness of culture and artistic treasures of the surrounding cities: Bologna (the fat city, to symbolize its opulence), Ravenna (with its mosaics that go back to the emperor Teodorico), Modena (with masterpieces of Bernini, Velasquez and Correggio), but the list might go on and on...
